Cooking delicious Mexican tacos is a fun culinary endeavour. Here’s how to make scrumptious tacos with all the traditional components:
One pound of any kind of protein—be it tofu, beef, chicken, pig, or shrimp—of your choosing
One onion, chopped finely
two to three minced garlic cloves
Cooking oil, one or two tablespoons
Two to three teaspoons of the taco seasoning of your choice (salt, pepper, paprika, chilli powder, cumin, and oregano)
freshly made wheat or corn tortillas
chopped cabbage or lettuce
chopped cilantro, fresh
Cut up or chopped red onions
grated cheese, as cheddar or queso fresco
Jalapeño slices (for heat)
Mexican crema or sour cream
Salsa (choice of salsas: pico de gallo, roja, verde, or your own)
For the filling:
In a pan, heat the cooking oil over medium heat.
When the onions are transparent, add them and sauté.
Add the minced garlic and continue cooking for one more minute.
When the protein of your choice—ground beef, chicken, etc.—is added, heat it until it is thoroughly cooked and browned.
Mix thoroughly after adding the taco spice to the meat. Taste and adjust the seasoning.
Get the Tortillas Warm:
The tortillas should be warmed and malleable, about 30 seconds on each side, in a dry skillet or on a griddle. They can also be reheated in a microwave or oven.
Put the Tacos together:
Spread the warm tortillas out.
Put a dollop of the ready filling in the middle of every tortilla.
Add layers of your preferred toppings. You can add as much or as little as you wish, depending on your creativity.
Sauces and Salsa:
Add a drizzle of your favourite salsa or sauces. Salsa alternatives include salsa roja for a more smokey flavour and salsa verde for a tangy bite.
Present and Savour:
While the tacos are still warm, serve them right away.
